CD drive problem
Riiight it recognises that it's there but it doesn't turn up in My Computer and nothing happens when you put a CD in. Device manager gives me the message:
"Windows cannot load the device driver for this hardware. The driver may be corrupted or missing. (Code 39)
Click Troubleshoot to start the troubleshooter for this device."
Troubleshoot is crap it just tells me to uninstall/reinstall which has been tried loads, and there are no more up-to-date drivers apparently. Quick google search came up with a couple of pages about editing the registry to get rid of uppers and lowers or something like that but I don't know about regediting so I don't want to tinker about with that unless I know it's definitely what I need to do.
Any help would be much appreciated, thanks in advance chaps

Can you list your pc/laptop specs please?
and is this for all cds?
and has it always been like this or when has it been starting to do it?
Sounds like a driver problem

Oh yeah lol forgot about that lol
Errm it's running XP home on an AMD.. AM2 SE or something like that, and yeah it is to do with the drivers 'cause it used to work (only bought the PC in february) but the driver is on a CD as far as I know and it's not able to read CDs at the moment haha
Oh here we go I found the list;
AMD Athlon(tm) 64 X2 Dual Core Processor 4200+
2.21 GHz, 1.93 GB of RAM
Physical Address Extension
No idea what that means myself but yeah

I will reply tommrow after school, or hopefully someone else will with all the information you provided.
Thanks.

Your driver might need updating, I'm not good with finding links to drivers, sorry.
Also, sticking your penis in there every so often doesn't help! ;)
