Which one is better?

Both have differences and both have qualities better than the other, what exactly do you want out of it?

Vista is going to be horrible on both of them

Vista Basic won't be too bad

it's basically for school work. College coding & note taking. I have xp keys.. so i can install xp. I will also update the memory to 2 gb.
