sometimes it might be a RSS Feed helper or a toolbar being dodgy. you can reinstall the extension and it sometimes works for a while ;)
Upgrade to the latest version, at first, firefox 3 for me crashed a lot. I downgraded back and about a month later I upgraded to the latest version of 3 and now it's fine.
This happens to me also, but usally after i reboot my pc, it's working for me again ;]!
