I think to discharge static you just need to touch the metal around the case. Not sure though, had to do that when opening up my imac to replace the HDD so I would have thought it would be the same.
My friend said to touch the metal end of the plug.
Not sure on that really, with my PC I didnt discharge any static and everything still worked fine.
Im kinda scared incase I fry the motherboard ;(
Ahh right, I think all you need to do is touch the metal surrounding the motherboard and everything, Im surprised I didnt break mine last time I opened it, I bend some connections on accident and had to bend them all back lol
How is that going to ground you?
Plus for a fan you don't need to worry about static as a fan is not electrostatic sensitive and there is no reason for you to be toutching the motherboard. However if you do want to ground yourself just leave the computer plugged in but turned off at the socket or the PSU and then you can toutch the metal case to ground yourself.
Would be a waste of time as you only have to plug your molex plug in, you don't need to plug it into the mobo so you ain't gonna kill nothing.
So I can do it without a shock rly?
If the computer is unplugged, you won't get shocked.
