Upgrading PC.
Im going to upgrade my PC bit by bit, Im going for a budget pc though at the same time I want to be a decent pc, not for gaming but just for general rendering videos, watching etc.
Here is what I've got so far.
CPU -
Intel Core 2 Duo E7200, £85, this is a decent CPU for the money if you are in a strict budget. They over clock nicely and are reliable.
Motherboard -
Asus P5K SE, £58, this motherboard is excellent value for the price and has everything you need
RAM -
OCZ PC2-6400C, £25, two gigs of 800MHz DDR2 RAM, cheap.
Anyone recommend a GFX card aswell, not one for playing games just a decent one, I have some old0 Nvidia one (6600 or something) atm though. What do you think I should upgrade first or should I wait until I have all the parts first.
-
If you are not going to be playing games at all or very rarely, get a motherboard with on board graphics and forget about the graphics card. Although if you really want a graphics card anyway just get a cheap one (No need to spend more than £50 really).
-
Something like an 8500GT or 8600GT.
-
This one's a pretty good deal, far better value than nvidia's range: http://www.ebuyer.com/product/151397

Can someone just recommend me some decent parts that will help me render my videos faster, ram, motherboard and processor. Scott said quad core but I'd rather have a decent dual than cheap quad.
-
The parts you have chosen are fine. For graphics i'd probably get a 9500GT. The one Jordy recommended is a better card for the same sort of money but i just prefer Nvidia. http://www.aria.co.uk/SuperSpecials/...roductId=34136

I gave you link on msn for alternative RAM.

Should I go for a quad core?
-
You will be able to covert a movie twice as fast as a dual core. Assuming they're around the same clockspeed
assuming the program is multicore.
