Work & Car Issues
Hello people of HxF.
I'm in a current situation here where I believe I can afford to buy a car and insurance by Christmas but my mum doesn't. My work is part time during term time and pretty much full time in half terms. I'm on £3.75 an hour (poor i know) and work whenever I want to. I've missed the last two weeks of work and got paid yesterday, I worked 86 hours throughout the month and earnt £322.50
Now because i'm at an age where my driving lessons are going super and "I'll be driving before November" (quoted from my Driving Instructor), I'm thinking about buying a car. I've seen a few Toyota Yaris' on auto trader for around £700-1000 which i really want to buy, so it will take me about 3 months to save up and buy the car. Then i've got the insurance, which i'd be paying monthly instalments, then i have the MOT every 12 months, petrol costs and whatever else comes with a car. Realistically, would you think I'll be able to afford a car? Even if it means crossing out getting a Yaris and getting an English car which means cheaper insurance? Just reply with what you think and stuff.

Depends how cheaply you can get the insurance, but realistically I dont think you could right now because you also have to take into account that the car could have issues quite quickly, get damaged etc. And with petrol on the rise too (as far as im aware) its not going to be easy. I think it could easily be worked out if you went and got figures for insurance, petrol in your area etc.
