Forum Members/Guests
in 2008 HxF set its record for number of online members at like, 800 something.
and now we have roughly 80 members on during peak with about 100 guests, can we not like, restrict guest privilages so they sign up and hopefully start posting/become a regular member..

I think this was brought up months ago but I don't know if it was ever implemented. ClubHabbo for example only allow you to view a certain amount of threads a day and then you're forced to sign up. Would be an idea to do the same here :)

I don't agree with restricting guests to view the board (if that's what you're saying) but something could be done to hook those guests to registering. :S

been brought up many times and every time the answer has been no

I don't really like the idea tbh. If they wanted to sign up, they would. You can get people to register without restricting their access.
-
It's been brought up a few times as the others said but forcing them to sign up would only send them away. It's also annoying if a user's account is broken and they can't login or something.

I think they should restrict viewing from some forums
do you know the amount of people that stalk the forum? like lurk threads every day and don't post... there's loads if them
-
I wasn't suggesting the restricting guest privileges in the correct answer, but I do feel something should be done to get them in.

I don't think making people register to view the forum or posts will get more people to register but will stop the 'Guests' coming to have a look. I know if I went onto a forum and had to register before viewing things I would be put off. Being able to have a look around to see if you like the forum/community etc. I think is a good thing for the forum :)

We shouldn't start forcing people to sign up to the forum, when they will probably never use it again if they are forced into doing something they didn't want to do in the first place. It is up to the user if they want to actually sign up onto the forum. Yes clubhabbo have the thread limit restriction, that does make people sign up so they can read as many threads as they choose to do so but does not mean they will start posting and stick around.
