London Firefighters strike on Bonfire Night

The stupidity and greediness of the Firemen and their Unions has finally got to me so I can't help posting.

First of all they're striking over a minor change in shift patterns? It really isn't worth it. It's not even over something quite important like workers rights, pay or pensions.

Second of all as a result they'll be 27 fire engines available compared to the usual 165, and they're over-stretched usually on Bonfire night as it is. They'll be lucky not to get away with any fatalities as a result of this ridiculous strike.

I say the people in that area should make a huge fire, then they'll regret striking on that night. :P

But seriously, they're going on strike on one of the most popular nights for fires and therefore putting many lives at risk too, idiots. I'm guessing there will be a few people that actually care that are going to help?

I think strikes should be illegal in police/fire & rescue/medical as it's just risking lives.

It is disgraceful, irresponsible and just shows true disregard for others.

Imagine if a huge fire broke out, with people stuck in a building - and all other 27 engines are at other fires. There would be fatalities no doubt.

You would expect Firefighters to have a bit more pride and sense of responsibility.

I find this rather disrespectful of them, considering the amount of people who are currently jobless. I'd just fire them all (pun intended).

So if the government just stops paying the fire brigade they can't strike. That is the silliest idea I have ever heard.

They're striking on that night as it'll get their message out most effectively. If they strike at other times people simply won't care. If you don't want a fire or something happening then just don't bother in the first place.
