Driving lessons/First car...

I'm hoping to start my driving lessons next month or in March, I got a fair amount of money in my bank and because I'm running an online business, I did the calculations last night and I personally think it be enough for driving lessons.

How much does driving lessons roughly cost for a 1 hour period? (Weekdays/Afternoon)

How many lessons will it take before actually taking the practical test? (Note, I haven't drove a car in my life, only a mo-ped)

How much does the theory and practical test cost?

What's the ideal first car? (Small but cheap for insurance)

Finally, buy a car from a auction or those second-hand dealers?

Depends where you live I think, larger places cost more, but generally between £18-£20

Again it depends, if you're a quick learner could be 10-20 lessons, if you're slow it could be 30 even 40 lessons

Theory £31 Practical £62

Ideal first car would be something like a punto, ka, clio etc something with a low engine size like 1.0-1.2 litre.

I'm not sure for the last one, check autotrader.

a driving lesson for me for one hour was £25, however if you booked 10 it'd work out as £22 each
i had my first test after just 15 lessons, naturally i failed (only one major and two minors foooools) and passed after my second test, which was after roughly 19 lessons.
theory is £31
practical is £62
an ideal first car is one that will be small, cheap to run, insurance may cost more than the car though. my insurance is roughly £800 because i'm under my dads policy but expect £1500+ if you're on your own car.

You can't say the exact amount but they reckon around about 32-40. (This depends on how you learn and how fast you pick things up.)

Your insurance will always be lower with a brand new car, also a engine as high as 1.2, any higher your insurance shoots through the roof :/

Well Lewis Hamilton only needed 8 lessons lol.

But yeah 10-20 lessons is the norm or 30, slower learners up to 40. Everyone else has given pretty much your answers. You want a small call that's 1.0 litre really otherwise your insurance goes really high, and also I assume you want something fairly cheap? A VW Golf is pretty good apparently, Ford KA's etc...
