No, you buy minecraft from minecraft.net, you get both online and offline. :) Say you have no internet, and you want to play single player, youll need to login once then youll get offline on that pc you logged in, so then after you've logged in you can disconnect ur internet and still play. If you want to play multiplayer, you need to be connect to the interwebs all the time.
