[+18] Recording Software
Hey,
I need some good advice on recording software and codecs. I have tried camstudio and camtasia recorder and I couldn't find successful settings so in rage removed them. Everyone always says divx is a great video compressor but it's so annoying to install and there is actually a bug within the program that takes up a lot of cpu, I was reading on a forum that the creators of divx were going to fix it but still haven't. It's something to do with the program updating, so when you boot up it takes a long time. Another thing I dislike about divx is if I don't record within a certain size it refuses to work.

So basically I need suggestions on:
- Compressors
- Software itself
- Editing software
This is really frustrating, if anyone has any ideas on what I can use that is HD quality please let me know. P.s, I will be using the software for PC gaming.

Editing softwares, for PC there is Sony Vegas, and Adobe Premiere, and the different levels within each one. As far as I know, at least in the pro versions there is are top notch encoders and rendering options for almost all formats that you would want. Separate compressors I would recommend http://lifehacker.com/316478/top-10-...and-converters. It's better to get the encoders within the editing programs. Adobe's collection includes Adobe Media Encoder, and thats what I use for all my 1080p shtuff. I can help you with any problems you have further in editing and stuff. yuuuup

always can use trusty fraps, the premium version has no watermarking on the recording. also alot of people use camtasia, ive never tried it personally but it seems to go smoothly for many. I believe both of these will run you some decent money for the premium version and im not sure if fraps does 1080p. ill keep my eye out for recorders i do alot of video tech browsing :)

I tried camtasia but it still seems to lag, the video lags but when I'm playing it doesn't it's strange.

hm i want to say that potentially its too much stress on your computer, or your recording settingsare too high. Think about it like rendering in realtime a large video while playing a full video game. pretty demanding for the average computer. i may be wrong about this though, you should run your programs with different settings, i.e. lower graphics settings in call of duty, or lower quality recording settings in camtasia etc. This will determine if its a processing issue and if its not then you can presume it is a software issue and try a different program.

It doesn't seem to look laggy when a shrink the game but when I record full screen it's fairly lagging (recorded).

if you are reducing resolution when you shrink the game then yes that will affect framerate and make it better, but full screen i think would be the way you want to go. Not sure how they pull like 1080p video from a reduced resolution lower than 1080p. soooooooo im not too sure on that. try fraps its an ancient legend of a recorder haha i used it when i was really young.
