Complaints Section

Is there actually any need for it? It seems to be GeneralManagementsway of removing threads which make them look bad. If someone has a complaint to make about the forum or any particular staff member then a PM seems to be the most suitable method, what's everyone's opinion on this? Do you think the complaints section should be removed and all complaints directed through PM to the particular member of GM which seems most suitable?

I've been saying for years that the Complaints forum shouldn't exist and the decision to make forum posts hidden is a step to removing it altogether. When it was visible it was a place for Management to move constructive feedback threads so that no-one can discuss an issue, even though it blatantly concerns everyone. It also acts as a query forum which the Ask the Habbox Staff forums have done since their creation, and you'd probably get a better response considering all staff can comment on a thread.

It should just be removed, as it doesn't serve a purpose other than for management to gang up on members who make a good point that should be discussed with everyone because it concerns everyone, a huge criticism that has been associated with that forum since its creation. Members are told to PM certain members of management if there are complaints against a staff anyway, further reducing the effectiveness of the forum.

During the Great Forum Cull, the Complaints forum should of been taken to one side and shot twice for good measure. It serves no specific purpose as it's purpose is already being done by other forums.

EDIT: In fact, the original intentions for the forum when it was created was to publically show complaints being handled, to show that the management are actually taking complaints seriously (not that they did, they were just using it as time to publically mock and belittle members and what happens when PR goes wrong :P)

Sometimes issues folks complain about aren't issues where content should be visible to everyone. Often scenarios talked about in complaints includes events retaining to specific users where by making the thread publicly accessible would only embarrass or humiliate those users further. As reasons for dismissals are not to be publicly speculated upon it is inappropriate that a conversation retaining to this very topic be allowed to remain public, at the expense of the individual whom was hacked. It comes down to certain feedback and topics being okay to be discussed publicly, and some being inappropriate to discuss publicly, and how it is only fitting that we're able to accommodate for both circumstances hence the existence of the private complaints forum.

In regards to the bit in bold, if the thread was not appropriate to be visible to everyone, you would have moved the entire thread to the complaints section rather than just my response, which others appeared to agree with considering I was + Repped for it? Which also indicates there appears to be public interest in that particular topic meaning the thread should be left in the feedback section so other members besides general management can have an input. That also appears to be the case with many threads moved to the complaints section in the past (when it was visible to everyone) A thread where majority of users tended to agree with one another would be moved to the complaints section so that general management could gang up and quell the issue when members in that thread would be widely supported which was evident by the high amount of reps you would often see in peoples posts.

Any issue which involves the forum should be made public and placed in the feedback section so everyone can have a say,after all, you are catering towards the members here, their voice should be heard, and if there is a complaint about an individual member, obviously that thread should remain private, so one could send a PM to General Management, there is no need for a complaints section.

Members find out these things sooner than later, so it's best not to delay the inevitable. It's best to be honest with members, and judging by the other thread you lot managed the entire situation catostrophically badly by using your usual pointless rhetoric. If you do not want people to speculate, be honest with them by saying something like "You know we can't tell you that because we, ourselves, do not know what happened". You do not follow this up (like Matt did) by carrying on the conversation with "you aren't even sure what accounts were hacked in the first place" because that's asking for a response and digging deeper into speculative comments. If anything you say "His forum account wasn't compromised" rather than talk down to members like the previous quotation does. Jeez, someone make me management - it's not that hard. State facts and deter comments that do not.

Mhmm and Ban, Infraction and Reputation malarkys are all going into that section, kayako is not appropriate for our forum. Hopefully to be completed by the first week of January.
