Favourite books?

Just wondering what people like to read on here.

I don't really read much, read all the Harry Potters when I was young. My favourite book at the moment would have to be Stephen King's the Shinning. I'm a horror fan and loved the horror with the added back story, the fact that even though the main character goes insane we do feel sorry for him knowing some of the stuff we know. This is partly why for me the film just didn't work, becauseJack Nicholson ended up portraying a very one dimensional insane person with no back story to bring anyempathyout.

I also have just finished the Bourne series - the first book being the best and an amazing book and nothing like the films - For example the mainantagonist, basically a terrorist named Carlos who appears in book 1 and 3 isn't in any of the films but I won't give too much away.

I am now reading a short collection of H.P Lovecraft's works and I am currently on what I believe is his most well known piecesThe Call of Cthulhu (which also is linked into his other works). Some of his stuff is okay but it's different to the stuff I usually read and wasn't expecting Lovecraft to be a racist (read online later a racist poem he wrote which is quite hardcore and shocking).

i tend to re-read books i loved when i was 13/14 (i was seriously into reading back then). love the noughts&crosses series by malorie blackman, they are gripping and still touch me emotionally even at 21. enjoyed harry potter but feel like the films have ruined the books for me.

as an actor i like to read my way around varying periods of theatre, some of my favourite plays (i suppose they count as books even if they aren't prose) are taking care of baby by dennis kelly and cloud 9 by caryl churchill. the first being about a mother convincted of killing her two young children and then released to live with a newly found mental illness in a society that hates her and the latter is about social ideologies of gender and sexuality. i guess i mostly enjoy reading controversial and "shocking" plays: my favourite playwright is sarah kane.

er yeah that's about it for me and books. i try and read as much as i can as i do enjoy it.

I don't tend to have any favourite books but I do read a lot. I am notorious for buying five or ten books at a time on the iTunes iBook store and reading them before I sleep and when I have nothing to do during the day. I pick different genres but the ones that captivate me most are the ones that centre around tragedy. I am also very partial to non-fiction and like reading encyclopedic books and a even a bit of traditional philosophy. I find that some of the best fiction stories I have ever read, though, are ones I just bought on a whim and never thought about until that one day when I had nothing to do but read. The last book I read was «Secret Diary Of A Call Girl».

oh i've read secret diary and it's very very very good and i've got another one i think it's called confessions of a manhatten call girl and that's very good too, dunno if it's just my taste but you can't beat a bit of literotica hahahahahha.

I have no time for reading books now. But i used to read the Shopaholic Series by Sophie Kinsella. I adored the movie so i just bought the Shopaholic series which has six books. I also bought a few other books written by Sophie Kinsella. The same goes to the Harry Potter series. :)

I've read probably 5 books throughout my whole life - my fav books where the Cherub series by Robert Muchamore

other than harry potter (my favourite being the 4th because of the yule ball... i'm so predictable), i very rarely read fiction. my favourite book ever is human instinct by robert winston.
