Wildlife Numbers Plummet
Earth is a planet in crisis with wildlife populations declining by more than 30% in the past four decades, conservationists claim. A new report examined how more than 9,000 populations of mammals, birds, reptiles and amphibians and fish are faring. It comes in the face of record over-consumption of natural resources with serious implications for human health, wealth and well-being. Freshwater creatures in the tropics have seen the worst declines, of around 70%, while tropical species as a whole have seen populations tumble by 60% since 1970.
In Asia, tiger numbers have fallen 70% in just 30 years.

would be really helpful if you posted the source whenever you post threads like these. not criticising the content, but it's just as important having the source in general imo.

Species die out all the time, it's how evolution works and the fact we try to stop it happening is stupid.

I believe it is linked to the ever increasing population.

I'm always deeply sceptical of these claims, the same claims were made of polar bears and the population is thriving.
That said, do these numbers include natural extinction? I find it highly likely that they do.
But yes, I think where we can help save a species (within reason) it is very worthy to do - not only for enviromental benefit but also for treatments etc which can arise.
