the one where people clicked a link and it let people take their id. Everyone was having their accounts stolen lmao
or when the help tool got hacked... lmao
Ermm probs gold bar glitch that was the funniest :=d
The downfall of cameras. My understanding of it is that due to one guy's work, knowledge of Lingo and understanding of how the camera evaluated images it basically became possible to exploit the camera system to do anything including logging someone out, directing them to a phishing site of your own choosing and making your own photos using images from outside the game (and any other Lingo code you could get evaluated). I don't recall the Channel 4 report mentioning how Habbo got flooded with hundreds of pornographic images over the course of one night.
What makes it especially poignant though is how fundamental an exploit it was and how far-reaching the consequences. The only fix they had was to completely discontinue that aspect of the game and we've, as yet, not seen anything like it since then. Not only that but because viewing existing photos was also disabled as a result of the whole ordeal, massive amounts of memories for completely innocent users were removed from the game as well.
For the record I don't think it was a 'bad' thing as such but it was the worst in the sense that it affected a very large number of habbos who played absolutely no part in it.
When people were able to come in your room and take your furni by basically making you trade and then suddenly it was gone. Someone came in my room and started doing it to my thrones, but then I left the room and it stopped. Redtiz later replaced these :).
Definitely not funny at the time :P.
Definitely the gb glitch lmao.
Thank God they banned people and did a rollback though.
- Ability to purchase any furniture using HC Points (from the HC page)
- Ability to error users through chat
- Ability to error users through mission
- Ability to error users through console mission
- Ability to error users through presents
- Ability to rig dice
- The gold bar glitch - free gold bars using the credits page and exploiting the pricing of the deals.
- The account theft glitch - the space in front of the name (accounts with the username ' Hello', would take over 'Hello')
- The account theft glitch - the click jack (user clicked a link that added an additional email to their account)
- The trade glitch - allowed a user to colour a piece of furniture (red dragon, to purple dragon) in the trade window only, meaning they could trade worthless dragons for hundreds of thrones.
- Any camera bug ever.
- Lingo injection (both through the camera and through obscure messages (drinking exploit etc.)
- The "unbannable" glitch - This involved loading 2 clients and with some trickery both users would end up sharing the same name 'Abdicators', and 'Abdicators', however the account you was using might actually be called "YouCantBanMe!", as a moderator would now not be able to see that name, they would not be able to ban you - they would ban 'Abdicators' instead.
The most devastating bug has already been highlighted by @LoveToStack. He was close on most points. The bug was actually discovered by 2 people (Stephen and Matthew), but other than that he got almost everything right. The lingo media format (how the image was stored), saved binary data on the photo. Simply, that data was then eval()'d into an image! Eval could also be used to execute code, so if you modified the binary that was going to be saved you could execute your own code. This is how browsers were redirected etc.
I tried to find a picture of some of the Lingo injection but couldn't find one. essentially it allowed a user to execute raw lingo code, this meant that they could make microsoft sam speak to you, log you out, transition your screen, hide certain UI elements, and even instruct your client to send specific messages to the server essentially making you a robot!
Personally I hate when furni randomly disappear, it happened earlier this year and 2 years back when I had lost my purple ICM along with 20k norms, it all came back though but still got me scared
