This is being blamed on an automated online application. Which cannot be said for Leeds Conservatives following up the email from Dave to further welcome Mr Bhutto back into Tory arms:

This is not the first time that UKIP have got into trouble with Tory friends. No one noticed the gay floods chap when he was a Conservative councillor, and the member accused by the Mail on Sunday of being in the National Front was actually a Tory when she made the incendiary comments. And let’s not forget Roger Helmer.
As Farage said the other day, ”if you accept defectors from the Conservative Party you will always have embarrassments.”
UPDATE: Shapps was just confronted with these emails on the Daily Politics, it seems the Tories had spotted the issue here.
Though it seems no one told Leeds…
UPDATE II: Poor Bhutto has been booted out already. Tories say:

The bias in the media is absolutely incredible. Ukip accept a former Tory Councillor who makes stupid comments about gay marriage the weather, and there's a media storm whipped up over the issue: despite the fact he said similar things when a Tory councillor and yet not a peep was heard.
Now we have this Bhutto chap who was the leader of a kidnapping gang - somebody who left Ukip a while ago, yet now the story is being reported as though he's a member of Ukip despite him now being a member of the Conservative Party!
Often it's said that people may vote for Farage and Ukip but wouldn't trust them in governments because of the antics of certain people within the party. Yet most of the silly comments have been made by defectors or current serving members of the Tory Party - so why is the same never said of the Tories who are in government but who by their record show themselves to be unfit for office?
And this is all without mentioning recent arrests of Labour councillors over child pornography/abuse. You didn't know? That's the media for you.
Ponder that. Thoughts?
