Google + 's end

This week there were rumours that Google+ was going to be shut down, due to an announcement of its creator saying he was quitting.

Google+ has been trying to be more popular than Facebook and Twitter since June 2011. Unfortunately, not many people seem to use this social network and by forcing members to join it so they could use Youtube made it even less people like it!

Even though such rumours have been dismissed it is obvious the network is failing to achievement its goal.

Do you use Google+? Would you be sad to see this go? What do you think about it?

No it's one more useless social network as far as I'm concerned there's enough that's too popular for it to break in atm.

After all that trying to get me to sign up to google+ via youtube they're just going to shut it down? I don't believe it!

If anyone could have made a social network to challenge facebook/twitter it was Google.

however I think they failed when they forced people to use it. Want to use youtube? Gotta use Google+. Want to use x and y? Gotta use Google+. That's not how to do it.

This is a rumour made by someone who doesn't know what Google+ is. I use it every day just to see what people are discussing and when this "news" broke loads of people didn't know where it was coming from. It's incredibly similar to the news that reddit was suffering problems with over-moderation and being controlled externally by the NSA or some rubbish when a quick read of these articles makes it clear they're by people who do not really use the service or know what it is. r/technology had filters put on to stop Tesla articles being posted because Tesla isn't technology, it's a car firm that makes electric vehicles and people were karma harvesting.

There's no hint Google+ is closing when loads of people have migrated to it from Facebook and the two have different specialist areas.

What do you use Google+ for? I mean why do people in general use Google+? From what I've seen it's exactly like facebook and the fact they forced me into getting an account just annoyed me.

Mostly tech news and discussions. You can use Google+ for pretty much anything, really. It's like Facebook, but you can also make some of your posts public, especially if you're a writer/journalist and discuss whatever the topic is. You can do that with Facebook, but people who use Google+ tend to be a bit more maturer and informed, even though the odd Apple vs. Samsung discussion breaks out. I use the Google+ App on my phone rather than the web version which just seems like a random mess. I definitely wouldn't say it is dying as there is a type of niche it fits.

Also, as far as I recall, you do not need a Google+ profile to use YouTube - I haven't got one of my Google Accounts linked with a Google+ profile and can still watch YouTube videos, subscribe etc but they may have changed it so you do not need one now and I just didn't get round to it :P Is it a problem having a Google+ profile? It doesn't seem forced on you and if anything unifies your Google experience.

i hope it does shut down i hate it

I don't use google+ unless they're forcing me to merge it with a youtube account or whatever. I'd love to see it go.

Google+ is just terrible to be fair.
