Dating someone with a disability

do u guys think u could do it?
a learning disability? a physical disability?
what if you met someone on say, tindr, you liked them, met them and then found out they had a sort of disability, would you be put off?
or what if you were already in a relationship and your partner found out they had a learning disability or ended up being physically disabled?


personally don't think i could be with someone with a learning disability as it can really affect quality of life (eg getting a job). physical disability wouldn't be as much as an issue as they're still 'cognitively there' and being in a wheelchair doesn't mean having a poor quality of life!

i know someone physically disabled who has absolutely no issues getting babes who don't mind his disability! he generally meets them online though, so not sure if he tells him he has one first (which is another question - would you?). his ex-gf dumped him because he became disabled during the relationship and she found it difficult to deal with.



(ps: please don't make jokes about scott being in a wheelchair - i ask this question because of the experience of someone else i care about, so don't make this about scott when it's nothing to do with him ty)

Yeah same. Physical disability like being in a wheelchair I could cope with and actually I think wheelchairs are rad anyway so yeah (h)

Learning disability though hmm. I don't think I could ever see myself getting into a relationship with someone with a learning disability? Just can't see how it would come about but idk. And I think if my partner was diagnosed whilst dating me I would try to be ok with it but shamefully I have a feeling after a while I wouldn't be able to cope.

Learning disability no, I don't think it would be fair on either of us because we just wouldn't get each other and I'd constantly be on edge trying not to make them feel stupid or lesser or anything. Something physical (or a mental non-learning difficulty) I guess it would depend on how strong the attraction is, there are plenty of issues that I don't think would affect me negatively to have in a partner and if I was that into them I'd be wanting to help them (assuming they wanted help) anyway.

Dunno if anyone watches The Undateables but the one last week had a guy from my town who I used to play football with as kids :P and he got really good and had a career in it but then after an accident is paralysed from the waist down. Still a really nice guy and facially attractive so other than his own hangups I don't think he'll have any trouble finding people now that he's got his wheel in the door

For the last few years my dad has been my mum's full time carer, and I've seen how it can affect everyday life and how it can work. I could probably handle a physical disability, as I've been helping my mum for years so it's still a relationship, and I think knowing the person needed me for more than just someone to go out with would be interesting, and it might even spur me on to help more people. However, I do know that someone with a disability, will most probably just get worse - my mum has a wheelchair that she doesn't need to use that much yet, but it's only a matter of time before she does, but that doesn't bother me either. A learning disability might be harder to deal with, unless it's something that doesn't really affect much every day, and I don't really know how I would cope in that situation, if I was in the situation and had dealt with it before it would be easier to understand and know if I would be able to cope with it.
