Whilst I'm not saying the ECHR is responsible for anything in particular, I must admit I don't have huge faith in the current government to not completely dick us all over in some aspects of life.

Completely unrelated to this but I'm curious @-:Undertaker:-; as an advocate of privatisation of the NHS and other things I'm sure, what do you think of the current plans to privatise the land registry?

Isn't that the point of elections so we can then debate and hold those accountable in office?

The thought of a Jeremy Corbyn Labour government scares me. He supports nationalising industry, doesn't support the monarchy and cutting our defences. Now currently under EU law, he would be forbidden to roll back the Thatcher privatisation (which I believe helped this country immensely) of the 1980s. Yet despite the EU actually siding with me on that issue, I would never in a million years dream of blocking my elected opponents from implementing the policies they were elected to office on just because I disagree with them. Parliament is where I would go, and hold that government to account and hope my arguments won the day: not relying on foreign judges and commissioners who meet in secret to block my opponents.

I haven't got an opinion on it as I don't know enough about it I am afraid. :P

Interesting you mention NHS privatisation though in regards to Europe. There's currently a EU-US Deal which looks to privatise at least parts of the NHS going through know as the TTIP. But i'm 100% against because I believe in sovereignty/democracy and know fully well the vast majority in this country support a public NHS. It'd be interesting to hear from supporters of the EU though how they square handing over decisions like this to unelected international tribunals.
