Dame Vera Lynn was awarded the Companion of Honour by the Queen in 2016
For those who are unaware given it is a young audience - Dame Vera Lynn went around the battles of World War II and entertained the troops from the battles in Europe to the British Burma campaign. Her songs from the 'White Cliffs of Dover' to 'There'll Always Be An England' were big morale boosters during the war. Her singing career spanned decades and even now her records sell well.Quote:
