If he had kept it in his hand and not displayed it in a very popular room, he may have actually kept it. Or he could drop it in a clones room, they cant trace furni that is dropped :)

It might be possible, but MODs do have a tool that can searchs hands etc.
And they can find you if they trace the trading logs, would take a while now though ;)
