What would you rather be, blind or deaf? I was just thinking about it today, and I think I would go with blind. I would never be able to live without music. Still, blindness is bad. How about you?

Blind coz i like a maze :p
blind, as in my head i could imagine what everything looked like, and also music is one of the most gorgeous things on this earth, i'm not really an art lover, but i would rather be neither.
Well im blind in one eye and me other one is very very short sighted and id give the world to be able to see properly
So death :)
Either, Blind so I could hear music etc...
Deaf so I could notice the beauty of life.
Well... it's like the hardest question to ask someone.. my step dad has ms and sometimes he goes blind.. it aint nice, but neither is being deaf :(
I love my music, and I love to see wonderful views, and see my family.. my friends..
but if I had to chose, or say which I would prefer.. it would be being deaf
woulnt realy want to be ether.
But having to choose, deaf by a long way, i dont need to be able to hear to opertae a computer, i could txt people on mobile and use im. Plus i could evenatly pick up sign landgwage, blind there be little more to do properly than listen to the radio, and brail seems difficult
Deaf :)
I am not really into music. But not being able to see means not being able to see anything. Not being able to see yourself growing up, your family or your wife/husband.
Deaf you could, sign language seems easy enough.
I would go for deaf as you have sight you can see things and imagine what they would like. These days i think everyone should learn sign language as you never know when it could come in handy. If you were blind, there would be a limited amount of things you could do yourself. Eat, drink, write(normally not brail) or type. That is why, if I had a choice I would choose being deaf over being blind :)
You don't need to be able to see to operate a computer. You can change the settings on most computers to a voice so that everything you scroll over you can hear.Quote:

I'd rather be deaf than blind. Sight is one of the best senses, I wouldn't be able to live being blind. There is this man I know who is blind and he's got a guide dog and I always see him and I just can't get over how god damn good them dogs are! You have to trust a dog with your life and they are just such clever dogs.
I agree. I can't live without my music... so blind it is. :PQuote:

i'd rather be deaf. I would miss being able to listen to music, but i'd rather not be able to hear, than having to put my life in the 'hands' of a dog, and having to imagine what everything looks like.
silly thread. I wouldnt choose. Did people who have these dissablitites get to choose? "/ "/
I would rather be deaf because you wont be able to see anyone EVER again :(
Not a very nice topic... But if i had to choose i would choose to be deaf. Sound can show a million emotions with a million words. Where one image can display more emotions than any word can possibly show.
I would rather be deaf. All of my mothers side of the family are deaf and they can't speak and my grandma n grandad havehad it all of their lives and they've gotten used to it and they're 67 and 71!
I'd much rather be deaf, a picture speaks a thousand words.
I agree with Ang <3
Even if I was deaf, I'd still be able to look at my beautiful ex.
I'd rather be deaf because you can only do a certain number of things if you're blind. Plus, if you're deaf, you can see a lot more, such as your family, friend's etc.
Deaf because seeing stuff is more beautiful than hearing if you ask me.
(holds up one hand) Friends (holds up the other) or No Doubt? Friends with subtitles...even though know the lines anyway...it wouldnt be as funny, but my love for Friends is too strong.
Urm, deaf I think...although may I ask what is the point to this thread? It's not as if one day someones gonna come up to you and say "Right, you can either be blind, or deaf. Your choice" It's just gonna happen, your not really gonna get a say

Blind, when one sence dies.. one gets stronger and i just can't live without music
I would have to say being deaf. I like to see where im walking, i could live without hearing, although i would miss music greatly.
Some deaf people can only comunicate with sign language. Others lip read but think how annoying that would be, and then when you tried to speak back nobody would be able to understand you. Imagine how lonely you would be. I mean, not many people no sign language, you would only ever be able to talk to your family maybe if they had learnt it. I wouldnt be able to live without talking or listening to my music but if you were blind all your life you wouldnt no if you were ugly or pretty which maybe isnt such a bad thing. U really wouldnt judge people on looks. I think if i had to choose id prefer to be blind. And to any blind or deaf people out there, good on u, your a stronger person then me! And Janeh, it could happen, someone could attack you and say... Lets not get into that.
yes but if blind, you coulnt get up and get stuff from the fridge, go for a walk? view art, or use a forum, wich mainly requires reading? yes u could get the computer to do it for you, but think how slow and annoying that would be "/Quote:

I love music, I love art, but I think loss of sight has more disadvantages than loss of sound.
I would feel nervous not being able to navigate myself through sight, and I love to read.
Saying that, one of my faviroute music artists is Ray Charles, and he was blind, yet he still managed to live a very successful life in music, which I don't think he would of been able to acheive if he was deaf instead of blind.
Alot of people who are born deaf usually have speech problems aswell, I don't know whether your question meant to be suddenly struck with the disability during life, or born with it, but...although it's very difficult to choose, and neither would be too pleasant, I'd rather be deaf.
Deaf for sure. I would be so curious as to what the world, family, and friends looked like if I was blind. I could live with being deaf. You can still read, write, and communicate. Being deaf is definately not as big of a disadvantage than being blind is.

Hmmm i heard that deaf people can still enjoy music via vibrations or something.
Dont forget stevie wonder, or ray charles, who were always blind and stevie wonder has been comming out with songs since the 70's, and just made a song this year. Everyone thinks you are completely useless and you cant do anything when you are blind.Quote:
