It seemed fair. The countries that are automatically in the final were in the right place, too.
The UK, Germany and France do not get as much publicity as the ones that go through the semi-final process so people pay little attention to them as they haven't worked hard or made themselves be heard.
The UK's entry was mostly heard through their music video so expectations were higher but the real outcome, being played live, so it was a let down. Not forgetting we do not put on a show, look uncomfortable and use a song no one has heard while other countries just release them as normal (Sweden, Belgium and a few others usually do).
Austria coming last was quite impressive - a host not receiving a single point is a shock.
People also vote tactically (not politically or via favouritism). Latvia received a few too many 12 points which just seemed dodgy. Russia, although getting boo'd, receive the number it did because people probably want to prove it isn't political.
Lots of reasons which should be obvious but Graham Norton and others feel they should repeat them each year.
If anything I'd say Russia's almost success is proof that the whole idea that every vote is political doesn't hold up. What is interesting about potential political voting is seeing how many jury panels voted Armenia and Albania dead last while the televoters proved quite fond of them. I really hate the juror voting scheme :P
Also it's really time that the BBC made a proper effort in terms of finding a suitable act. Even when we've had voting and such it's been farcical and eventually the entire thing including the song and show setting have been completely chosen by the execs, and these are people who quite clearly view Eurovision as just a camp joke rather than a genuine contest and showcase of talent. We don't necessarily need to recruit anyone with past fame (tried that with Blue, Bonnie, and Engelbert and look how well that went) but the actual songwriting aspect of it should be the focus - and that's something that a lot of people are talented at around the country, as opposed to the BBC bosses who are so obviously not :P
jury 1st - last
televote 1st - last
