Alexa ratings are taken from people with the alexa toolbar installed, they're not accurate atall. Google is by far the most visited site on the planet.
No they aren't just taken from the Alexa toolbar, the Alexa toolbar is used as part of the calculation but they also incorporate things like hits and traffic.
How do they get these "hits and traffic" then? They have to have some sort of monitoring system, otherwise they couldn't calculate anything.
It is the Alexa Toolbar, unless the sites embed something on their site to calculate it? Such as what Google Analytics does.
Which they get from the Alexa toolbar, there's no magical way to measure the sites without having something to monitor them. Google have no Alexa tracking, they just go by the toolbar.Quote:
