Derren gets taught everything. He doesn't figure it out himself although you never hear from the people who actually teach him. I know that one guy's called Colin. He looks like the chubby one from McFly.
I think it would be nice to see from the people who do teach him but Derren has something special about him that makes him fit the part. :)
