I think it's just to stop reporters from recording room conversations that they can make more stories out of.

If they see people having conversations in any place, they'd find something to report about. News channels will report anything these days lol.

Looks like we won't be getting unmuted today

They'll probably try unmute us at some ridiculous time in the morning so that there's less chance of the media flooding the hotel whilst chaos breaks out for a little while lol.
