I wouldn't say it's as important, because you can guarantee their will be no anomalies like in the normal world cups, where the associates can cause upsets.
But it's still hugely entertaining, and it's great for someone like me cos they show all statistics more often, keeps me more entertained in a 50-over format :D
Plus in all honestly, as a true Englishman, I don't see why the Ashes is anymore important than any other series, it's bad for the game because noone then goes to test matches which involve England and another nation, as it's "not as important".
Yeah, they were the first two test teams ever, big whoop. Why shouldn't the Wisden trophy be deemed as important?
PS, to you two slating Saurav for not being English, he has a bigger following, it's called India v Pakistan; the fiercest rivalry in World Cricket. Much bigger than the Ashes :)
