I find it annoying that the only student who was from the old school left is Harley, I will probably miss Scout a lot as I'm used to seeing her but I can't wait for her to start in Coronation Street. I was the same with Ronan and Josh too, you grow to know the character more due to the story line on it.

Waterloo Road has some soap features, like sometimes the longer running storylines with Pheonix and Harley with their dad, Scout and her mum, things like that but it isn't a soap it's a series due to a different story beginning each time and hardly any running on. Some of the things are unrealistic but most of the time that might be why we watch it :P.

I wish Chawky was staying but the day Tom leaves I might not watch it anymore lmao.

i've watched from the beginning, and i think the moment the last person from the beginning of the series leaves will be the day i switch off. complete respect to waterloo road, it's my guilty pleasure! i just hate change, and i get really attached to characters and i think without these original characters it just wont be the same. also i think because i'm older, i just don't feel as attached to the new and younger characters coming in.

Waterloo Road bosses have today (April 10) confirmed that original character Tom Clarkson is leaving the show.

Jason Done, who played the schoolteacher, has already filmed his final scenes after seven years in the role.

Tom will feature in the next block of ten episodes, which are due to air later in the spring, and show chiefs are promising a memorable exit for the fan favourite.

Waterloo Road's executive producer Cameron Roach told Digital Spy today: "We will be sorry to see Tom Clarkson leave Waterloo Road, but we promise a finale that can't be missed, in order that we send this much loved character off in style.

"We wish Jason all the best for the future and thank him wholeheartedly for the energy and commitment he has given the role. He has been a big part of the Waterloo Road story."

Done added: "A massive thank you to everyone who's been involved in the making of Waterloo Road. I'm very proud of what we have achieved and the laughter we have shared."

Meanwhile, Alec Newman and Daniela Denby-Ashe have also left their respective roles as headteacher Michael Byrne and businesswoman Lorraine Donnegan.

Brian Park, managing director of Waterloo Road's production company Shed Productions, told Digital Spy: "Jason, Alec and Daniela all feature significantly in the next series and their departures will have all Waterloo Roaders on the edge of their seats."
