Well i like rammstein i think there metal.

I'd just like to note (a few days late, sorry I've been away) that White Stripes are not in any way classic rock or a modern update of it. They are rock, simple as that. In fact, White Stripes' music is a pretty clear indication of how modern rock can be just as good if not better than classic rock.

It also seems that classic rock fanboys seem to have an irrational fear or hatred of hiphop/rap except for "old stuff like Run DMC", because as everyone knows, it's cool to like Run DMC but not anyone recent, and of course gangster rap is off-limits because it's OMGZ TALENTLESS N U USE A COMPUTER!!!!

What I was trying to say about the white stripes is (or is it just me) do they have the same "sound" (not copying) of classic rock bands like led zepp? Mainly the vocals..

Run dmc rock.. gangster rap just ****** me off :P

I personally don't see how White Stripes sound like any classic rock bands and I don't think Jack from the White Stripes sounds like any of the classic rock bands, his voice is rather distinct and unlike those of classic rock bands. How come gangster rap ****** you off then? Please do use artist(s) examples!

(Most) gangster rap flows a lot better than "old school" hiphop, and I find it to be much more powerful too - and for me that's great, because I like power music.

Classic rock - intricate musical style, solos etc., singer with wide range of notes
White Stripes - back to basics simplistic band, singer who is very much different to anyone else

I think Jack's voice must be what makes me link classic rock together- sounds very robert plant style- also he has a good range of vocals too..
hmm. guess it's just me then ^_^

The White Stripes did have an old blues-ish style on White Blood Cells, but since then they've added twists and heavier aspects making them much more distinct.
