This is a male-focused episode which is narrated by Rex.
Edie gets a visit from her ex-husband, Charles McLain (though he is not shown), and their 9-year-old son, Travers. Charles wants Edie to take care of Travers while Charles is in Africa for a month with Doctors Without Borders. Edie doesn't want to, but Travers wants to stay with Edie. Carlos brings a woman named Kelly that he met over the internet to Mike's house. As they are about to have sex, Carlos notices Travers playing outside by himself, in the dark. Carlos brings Travers inside, which causes Kelly to leave. The end of the episode implies that Carlos is reminded of his desire for a child by this.
Victor Lang, a rich man in his midforties, tells his chaffeur to rear-end Gabrielle's Aston Martin DB9 on purpose so he and Gabrielle can meet. The next day, Gabrielle goes to Victor's office and finds him being interviewed and photographed. He is running for mayor of Fairview. She agrees to go out with him, and they have a pleasant date, but she doesn't think he's the right man for her. Still, he is seen confidently telling his driver "I'm going to marry that girl."
Tom makes a nice romantic gesture for Lynette involving a horse and carriage ride for their anniversary. Naturally, things go awry, but by the end of the episode, they have reaffirmed their love for one another.
Danielle discovers she is pregnant. It is believed by all that the baby is Austin's. Orson then decides that Austin will leave town, and Danielle will go somewhere else to have the baby before giving it up for adoption, the cover story being that she is taking a semester abroad. Austin writes Julie a heartfelt letter and she agrees to take him back, not knowing about Danielle. Austin tells her he has to leave for a while for "a family thing," and she kisses him good-bye before he rides off on his motorcycle.
Mike returns the engagement ring he had planned on giving to Susan and the jeweler notes the inscription on the inside "Susan, be mine forever, Mike." At that moment Susan walks in with her own engagement ring from Ian which needed to be resized. A poker game with all the guys leads to a face-off between Ian and Mike. After selling back the ring he's able to repay Ian for the lawyer he hired for him. However, with Mike quickly losing out on money, Ian offers a new stake saying that if Mike wins the hand he can tell Susan whatever he likes, but if Ian wins Mike cannot utter a word. Mike loses the hand and cannot tell Susan that he was planning to propose the night he was hit by the car.
This is the first episode ever that Bree as not appeared in.

Lynette is unhappy with the uniforms for the waitstaff at the pizzeria. She asks two employees, Kim and Tucker, if they have any complaints but all they have to complain about is the lack of health insurance. Lynette asks them to lie to Tom and tell him that they hate the uniforms so that they can get them changed. Tom's life is in danger.
Edie's new relationship ends badly when she finds out that her new boyfriend, Raoul, has been sleeping with his step-sister. Carlos and Edie begin a relationship, after Edie strips for Carlos.
Something bad happens at Gabrielle's house. Gabrielle stops by Victor's house but he isn't home. Victor's housekeeper does not like Gabrielle. Victor gives Gabrielle a dress which belonged to his ex-wife, Samantha. When she's at the country club, Gabrielle runs into Samantha, who forces her to give up the dress.
Susan meets Ian's parents, Graham and Dahlia. Susan and Dahlia clash over a prenup issue. While lighting a barbecue, Susan accidentally sets Dahlia on fire. Graham is a cross-dresser. Susan learns some secrets of Graham and Dahlia.
