Yes, and you need to be actually wearing them, not just in your inventory. If you go through the Saradomin portal with a Saradomin item, nothing will happen to you.

Yes. If you can get into the prayer guild (which requires 37 or 38 prayer, i forget) you can ask someone there to bless it for you (one of the monks)
The prayer guild is near edgville, just west of there.

So hang around the prayer guild in a busy world and ask someone to get it blessed for you :)
