i wouldn't go out and buy something really expencive as it could get lost on the way, though it's unlikely i've seen it happen before.
Maybe write her a poem and give her something meaningful, since most girls would prefer something personal to some random present.

Get her a.. I don't wanna sound dirty or anything but if your over 17 maybe a ***** as that would be a amusing moment for you both, then maybe buy her some flowers and take her out to town :)
