Sonic's not gonna be in SSBB - We'd know about it already if he was, because otherwise, people would be like "OH MY GOD! WHY DIDN'T THEY TELL US THAT ALREADY?!" when it comes out.

all the comfirmed characters (besides diddy kong) note samus and ZSS are one character, and ZSS is only available once you have used Samus's final smash
Also i cant find source for this but nintendo said they were only wanting about 3 third party characters so if sonic is in brawl it is unlikly for a second sonic character to be in brawl but not impossible i would say 2 at the maxium of the same third party characters but this did not say anything about a limit on 3rd party AT's or items so you may get some knuckles or tails AT and a few solid snake items (keep in mind sonic may not be in the game but was the top most voted 3rd aprty character to be in brawl on a jp nintendo site)
btw if you dont know this go on http://www.smashbros.com/en_uk/index.html monday-fridays for the newest SSBB update(s) of music character profiles adventure mode AT's pokemon stages etc. it is hard to guess what the update each day will be but it is worth it if you are really dying for info for the game (check 7-9am at earliest)

Many believe SEGA and Ninty did a trade, mario in segas game and Sonic in Nintendos...
Sonic is in everything, Sega sold themselves out so much... probably will be in this. I hope they add more MGS characters too... this is going to be a big game, so a huge variety of characters would be good. I can't really think of anyone else to put in it...

If you charge this up before using it, your jump power increases. And if you tilt the Control Stick left or right while charging it up...
...you can even curve your flight path!
If you get attacked while riding your Rocketbarrel Boost, you’ll lose your barrels...and they can sometimes go flying away on their own.
