With SAM 2 you can't change to firebird or w/e, it's only MySQL.
Anywho, I cant seem to do it so I have Sam 3 which is crap and I hate it but meh, i'll live.

It's COMPLETELY different.
I use SAM4 and had a similar problem when i attempted to install it. Even if you've installed mysql you have to set it up to run on your pc as a database (not EXACTLY the way it works but just think that). So if mysql is installed try and run it through and choose the username and password etc. for it. Once that's done try and run the setup file for SAM. It may not work straight away but if you get a different error to the one you've been seeing then you've done something at least.
I rectified this error as soon as SAM said it couldn't connect and took me to a window in the setup to put in the password and username i used for mysql and voila, it worked. I'm sure it can't be different in the way it sets up. I find SAM4 easiest to use in my opinion. It's easy to get rid of the echo of hearing your own voice as you speak, once you know what you're doing.

Yea you're right in that respect BUT it's very easy to get rid of. So if you're getting SAM2 purely for that reason then just get SAM4. It's a simple setting than can be turned off and amazingly turned on in SAM2. It was just forced on by DEFAULT from SAM3.Quote:
