LMAO why do people say it costs so much for a server to start off you could use a dedicated server which will cost you about £60 a month as long as the game is the only thing you host it would be fine (Thats for a small game).Quote:

Servers only start costing a lot when you start to get into large amounts of users 100,000 etc etc.
Think of it this way which would use more bandwidth and server processing speed etc etc.
a Unreal torunament 2004 game server or isometric chat?
I think you can see my point :p

An isometric chta sytem like habbo, has to be loaded complety of the internet, often sending 1000's of files for each starge of animation, with a limited cacheing abilty "/
consider a radio stream, it has to sned the data to alot of differnt people indervdiaulay, and therefor takes alot of band width, then times this by a few 1000 to get how much habbo has to send, then add in its also going to constaly queiying databses and keeping sicnk with a few 1000 users. its a pretty big and resorece intencive job
this is any thing to do with hosting shout cast ect what he is paying for is a pc with softwere on ina lab somewhere running 24/7 so people can connect to this pc and play on his game good luck ;]Quote:
