Probably RPGs, puzzle games (Kula world springs to mind) or strategy games like worms/HOMM.

Adventure/Platform

Can't beat a good RPG (refer you to FFVII).
Although these are few and far between. FPS is probably the most consistent (ie easier to make so less bad ones).
Sports are a poor genre IMO, sports are something you do outside.
