I used to have hair that went all the way down my back and a fair few of my friends had pretty long hair too back in the day, so I think I'm quite justified in my opinion, having been on both sides.

if you grow your hair and can't deal with people abusing you over it then just cut it rly

I don't get why though cos it's not like boys who have long hair style it or get it feathered or layered or anything nice. I don't think it's attractive either.
