it depends on the player, but i read an article a few years ago that the rule of thumb for most is the volume should be no more than 3/4ths of the way to the max.
it depends on the earphones - I have crap earphones that I can barely hear through even on full volume, and I have really good earphones which need to be about 1/4 of the volume or it's deafening.Quote:

I think the volumes on all iPods are different, max volume on my Nano is nowhere near as loud as max volume on my Touch, and thats with the exact same song with the exact same earphones.
If I were you I'd just keep listening with whatever volume is most comfortable.
