Ban on Alcohol promotions in pubs and clubs.

Bloody ridiculous, especially seeing as the two main gay clubs in Bristol which I go to regularly do a "£20 drink the bar dry" offer on a Saturday night :'(

If people want a drink, they'll have one.. this is ridiculous.

if this does come into place then the pub i work in will defiantly loose alot of business. also living in Brighton, we have one of the best nightlifes in the whole of the UK. Stopping promotions will kill our city.

Yeah it can get upto that round here to, depends where you go. Some small pubs manage to keep prices down to like 2.00, but the big chains are able to push it down to as little as 1.50.

Nothing anyone is going to do is going to tackle binge drinking, it's become part of our culture.

Personally I don't care if they tax more on alcohol because I don't drink but I can see why some will be angered by this. It won't stop them binge drinking, it might however stop people binge drinking so often in the town centres.

Right. When you go to the pub, do you EVER hesitate on buying a drink because of its price? NO. You don't even think about the price. People want to get wasted or at least have a decent evening drinking with their mates so they will be buying alcohol regardless. This won't prevent any such "binge drinking".

It's just an excuse for more taxes because the problem clearly lies within a minority so a more effective way of tackling it WITHOUT contributing to the country's financial problems would be to introduce higher punishments for binge drinkers who cause trouble in the streets.

Also thanks for completely ruining my night repeatedly for the foreseeable future from April onwards. Pubs have already been destroyed by the smoking ban but this is just pathetic. I don't know why this goverment is trying to kill British pubs when the trouble makers are more likely to go to clubs rather than pubs. Pubs are for people like me who just want a nice relaxing drink and a chat with their mates :(.

They banned smoking for health purposes. The government is already spending so much in NHS because of smokers.

Bloody ridiculous. Passive smoking is worse than actually smoking.

If they increase the price of alcohol in the supermarkets too, then the governments plan should work to an extent.

I probably won't go out now, because I can barely afford it as it is, £1 entry £1 drinks makes it a damn sight better.
