Congratulations to all who won member of the month, although I must say that its pretty much a numb/dud award as 'personal factors' come into it from what i've been made aware of (which they shouldnt as its deciding who is member of the month, not whos your favourite forum member/s).
Personal factors such as what?
well what i mean when the system was implemented and what they said you'd have to do to win it
there are people who meet this criteria more than the 'winners' and don't get it
Member of the Month is for those who contribute to each category in the form of constructive posts and threads. This means their posts and threads provoke discussion and more importantly, interesting discussion. Sorry to use you as an example and, dare I say it, this excludes threads such as your own. Whilst I think it's great you are posting regularly we are looking for threads that require more than just one word answers and that develop into detailed discussion - a notable example being Lorren's thread. This is subjective of course, based on which category and the content within it. Graphics is incredibly different from General, as an example. Finally, we choose members who as a general rule abide by the rules. Member of the Month will not be given to members (usually) who have recently broken rules or been cautioned or banned - Member of the Month is for rule abiding members only.
The system we use is fair and accurate, I would say, given that all of the Moderators and Super Moderators vote on who they want to win. Additionally the Forum Manager and some AGM's get a say. This way an obvious majority is found for each winning member and it eradicates bias on the basis of friendships - as not only one person, or even just Moderators from the category, get to vote.
There isn't really much else we can do do to make it that fair?
Such as 'I dont agree with his/her views therefore they arent entitled to being rewarded' - from a personal point i'm not really all that fussed, I just dont think it very professional for a site like Habbox which often states how professional it is. Oh and its not really fair to members who may put a lot in but just dont happen to have the same views as those nominating them - thats the issue I have with it.
If I were personally nominating for say, world affairs - while I may agree most with Jordy on matters, i'd most likely nominate alexxx/FlyDuo over Jordy because while I dont agree with them on most counts, they put the most in usually - thats how it should work.
