Discuss Anything should be for proper discussions, never for short ones like "Yes I use Google.".
innit i got a 5 page with some wicked discussion
Your thread about gun laws interested me quite a bit, I even wrote quite a long reply then got an internal 500 :'(
I've just edited all the threads posted in the tech section which could be answered with one word and asked for people to explain their answers - however it appears that a good number of our tech users are quite mature and exampes set by MattGarner, Recursion, Preposterous and the OP himself have all posted longer answers than simple one words - so as long as every post isn't going to be a one word answer I don't see a huge problem
Tbh most the post your threads, apart from 'setup' and 'desktop' are crap. I subscribe to all threads automatically, and posting in these is annoying, the fact that most the time there is NO discussion whatsoever, which kind of ruins the point in a forum. People literally go in post 'yes pasta is good' then never post again. Imo that is verging on pointless - afterall you are/were not allowed to say 'yeh nice update' or something, as that would be seen as pointless.
I mean this doesn't particularly bother me, as they are just threads, but I do think many of them are pointless.
How about introducing some rules which forbid 'limited discussion' threads unless stated otherwise. That's bringing back an old rule almost I know, but just a suggestion.
Well not posts shorter that 'X' but threads which encourage short posting. (Examples in Tech forum where it's post your search engine) Most answers are 'google'.
