Which is odd, considering when building a computer a motherboard can be anything from about £20 - £150 depending on what you want.

Are you sure the ram is seated correctly, GF's laptop had a problem abit like this and turns out her ram wasn't seated propley. It's either that or something with the PSU or something.
Make sure the PSU is connected properly.
I've checked all the connections and taken the bios battery out, but it still doesnt work. I'll have to check all the prongs. Sadly don't have a spare psu but i tried it without the graphics card and with, as it has built in graphics as well.. i can only assume its the psu :(
No, not nessisarily, some motherboards have the little speaker on the board that produce the sound removed, or things such as my girlfriends laptop never had one. You can't assume that it will beep, there are countless of problems it could be. Another thing, a beep could mean anything. I get a beep when i turn my pc on becuase thats just how it is, i then get two beeps because i don't have a PS2 keyboard.
