Fortunately I've never experienced damaging any of my electrical goods by dropping them in water (I broke an Apple keyboard by spilling syrup on it though).

I've always heard people say to take the battery out of the device, and then let both that, as well as the actual device sit out in the sun. However as this is an iPod that's going to be annoying to do.

Are you sure the damage is due to water though? I've seen some pretty hairy damage tests done to iPods. I've seen them survive being dropped in milk and then washed in the sync afterwards.

I once brought my dads ipod into the lake with me by accident. I tried drying it and not telling him for ages. In the end this caused a lot of hassle so i'd suggest get telling your da outta the way asap. My dad loves to lecture me so not telling him for ages just gave him more fuel to lecture me with.

I dropped my iPhone down the toilet it was in there about 5-6 seconds and i took it out, took the sim card out and left it in my boiler room at work (work in a pub) or if at home you can leave in a sock in aering cupboard or on a rad aslong as its in a sock. the first time i done this it didnt work but once i took out of boiler room it worked perfectly

Also, the apple genius' are nice so they may let you off if you do decide to be truthful. As my friend went in there the other day and he got his screen replaced for free but should have been charged £79.99 cos it was his fault...

Also if you take it to Apple you dont get a new one you get a refurbished one and how would your dad know if you sync'd it when you got it home

cant believe this hasnt been said already: rice!!! put yr ipod in a bag of rice (might be too late now) but whatever, it draws all the water out.
has saved my friends phones tonnes of times, could be wrorth a try.,

I washed mine in the washing machine. Dried it with a hair dryer. The backlight doesn't work but it still works and I can see everything fine.

Oo ok thanks everyone. I've had it sitting by the radiator all night (but not on it...) I'll go put it in the cupboard though.

& K-Lash...our local apple store is Oxford Street...and it's not like my mum will let me go there on my own ¬_¬ lol.

Put your ipod in the Freezer for 30 minutes then let it dry in the sun for another 30.

Lol, it sounds like you want his ipod to never work again. If it was really saturated i am pretty sure that that the water expanding would damage it further.

As bethie said, rice is supposed to work. Put the ipod in a bag of rice, as rice absorbs water.
