They have a TV licence and they still have adverts on RTE.

I can't find a Fines Act for Ireland :S There isn't one for the UK either, but apparently Northern Ireland have one (somehow) so obviously the article is a bit dodgy if they cannot give the correct name of the Act, if there even is one :P

We shouldn't be giving too much to the BBC, the money would just go into the pockets of the high tier staff and actors who do not need an increase in their wages. I doubt giving the BBC more money would go straight into improving their services and tools they use to make the shows. I'm greatly sceptical :P

I would hate the BBC to go, as I hate adverts and refuse to watch them. So I either pause the program for 15 minutes or watch the BBC - which has loads of quality programs anyway.

£100 really isn't that much though.

Top Gear and The Apprentice are worth that by themselves imo lol

It may be worth it to you, but not to me - let me have the choice of how to spend my own money. If the BBC is so popular and really worth it, it'll have no trouble being privatised and competing in the market. Besides, the BBC does advertise - just it advertises itself as opposed to other brands.
