Personally I don't think anything should be illegal unless it affects someone else involuntary.
Anyway how an electronic device which will go out of fashion soon enough is worth more than something he is most likely to keep forever is beyond me.

I don't blame him, technology today is so over-rated and it just shows what extremes people will go to for the "best new thing"
