This is my main point. I think while Anonymoushas some okay ideas but the problem is in its principle structure. Because anyone can really call themselvesAnonymous and anyone can join, there isn't really a owner (don't know how it fully started really). This means that people can join and use the name but do something that maybe a load don't agree with.

Anonymous is public about everything is the difference, forces people to improve their security before someone someone with slightly more malicious intent hacks them.

Yet they supported Luzsec who actually released peoples card details, pins etc on the internet for anyone to take, use steal etc.

There is a difference between telling people there's a problem to fix it with actually broadcasting the problem so scammers can use it.

Lulzsec were a group of highly skilled individuals, to not support them would be idiotic to put it simply.

Anonymous actually started out on Habbo Hotel funnily enough (Seeing as we are a Habbo forum and all that, it often gets overlooked). Even Wikipedia verifies it ;)

The whole pool raids with black people, afros and AIDs were where it all began and now it's intercepting US-UK government conference calls, quite interesting. That's not to say the same people are involved by any means but that's when "Anonymous" was first used to describe the groups of troublemakers, attention-seekers, hackers etc and it's just grown from there. Personally I think they're just attention seekers trying to be some sort of uncalled for paramilitary group which has not had any affect on anything in the real world yet. Just a bunch of losers controlling botnets really, nothing that skilled either.

Lmao highly skilled individuals. More like kids. There name Luzsec meant for the lulz/lolz etc. They weren't hacktivists really they simply took sites down for fun. They actually asked people to submit sites they should take down, they took down game sites just to annoy the people who used it oh and they actually released debit card information including pins.

This should not be praised. All the people who praise them wouldn't be praising them if it was there card information that was leaked and they got their bank account hacked or something. It just goes to show how much we laugh at stuff until it happens to us.

Exactly, They did it for fun and they did it unplanned. Thus relating to what I said about them being highly skilled. I could not care less if they were hactivists or not, they are skilled and anonymous did sort of aid them in Operation AntiSec and to clear up some confusion, they have posted my account details on the internet, I am not the least bit surprised nor bothered.

So your telling me if they got hold of your actual bank account details and pins and using this someone was able to steal your card and your money before you could realise it, you wouldn't be bothered?

The call wasn't actually that interesting, was expecting a lot more

I will certainly not defend the actions of Lulzsec, they were no discriminate in who they attacked and were not doing it for any purpose, nor am I happy that Anonymous helped them. However they did at least enlighten companies that a ddos is a very viable means by which their services can be taken down and I know many companies have taken actions to strengthen their defense to ddos attacks since.

Anonymous adopts a more direct strategy, by widely publicising the lack of security (And let's be honest most of the websites they hack were poorly setup) they force companies to be more active about it, if they just get sent a message saying "here you have a security flaw" then they'll just sit on it and sort it out when there's a problem with the lack of security. The fear that Anonymous instills into companies forces them to beef up security just so they don't have the embarrassment and lose all their customers.

It also raises consumer awareness about which websites care about their people's privacy.
