I don't think I could ever purely hate somebody, but I have been close to it.
I have. My Mum's ex husband. He left her and it was quite possible the hardest thing I've ever had to watch my Mum go through. He just told her he didn't love her anymore after 8 years of marriage. She was in bits for months. Urgh.
while a lot of that is true, i don't agree with "we all have a portion of humanity". i'm not so sure. my brother? no. he does not have an ounce of humanity or empathy in his body, i can guarantee that or else he wouldn't have done everything he has and continues to do. that's your opinion though. there's a lot of people i've thought i've hated and there are people i should really dislike but i never felt proper hatred until my brother. i would actually be relived if he was to disappear from the world and i don't feel bad for that other than the fact it'll make one or two people upset. & i don't like how people say to me "he's family, you'll think differently when he's gone" it doesn't matter that he's family, he isn't even human to me. just the thought of him makes my skin crawl and can literally ruin my day. i hate him and the only way i'll get over it is if i'm away from him for good.
Yes. I haven't seen them in years, but that only makes me hate them more. Sometimes I think I should be ashamed to hate them so badly, but then again I have no reason to be ashamed when it was them who did everything?
Maybe it's not "pure" hatred to some of you, but it's absolutely crystal clear to me.
No I don't, I remember disliking someone but I think the saying 'time is a great healer' is a good thing as I don't mind the person now but I think the dislike mainly came because he tried coming between my partner and me. However, some people at college/school said snide comments to me and upset me but I never hated them. I remember one saying 'Spam why do you hate me?' I just looked at her oddly and she immediately assumed I hated her, but in reality I don't hate her at all. I don't even dislike her, she's just a bit full on.
TL;DR: No I don't pure hate someone.
Ok that is fair, but even if you hate your brother so much that you would wish him dead I personally don't feel that this mindset comes out of hate, but compassion. If I see someone that is hurting others to a serious degree I personally hope that they are put out of their missery for their own good, and the betterment of humanity as a whole.
As an Example
I personally feel that those who commit serious sexual crimes, especially those who sexually assault or rape children, should be subjected to the death penalty without question. A good majority of these people are mentally sick and will have to deal with their mental disease for the rest of their life - not to mention the countless people that they will hurt and the many lives they will ruin.
So why bother putting these types of people into the system, spending taxpayers money trying to rehabilitate someone that statistically will commit the same crime within 6 months of being released? I personally don't think that we should take the risk - just do away with them. Should this be considered harsh and drastic? Personally I don't think so - if the law was "If you rape, we will kill you" it may deter some crime as well. We're living in a vastly overpopulated world anyways - a little population control wouldn't hurt anyone!
Plus, did you know the average cost of an inmate is $47,000 USD a year? A bullet costs 45 cents.... just sayin....
(obviously I am over exaggerating here, frankly I feel I sound a bit like a sociopath, but the general idea is there)
Yes, yes I have. Someone in my life that I cannot immediately cut out of my life (yet at least) has over time made me realise that I have a pure hatred for them. As a human being, they are vile and as a member of society, they are useless. Why would I have any reason to like someone like that? I have always had some compassion for people I know, even those I don't like. But this person? Hell no. It makes me smile with glee every time I see them fail at something they do or something bad happens to them (well, as long as it doesn't involve others).
I don't try to make their life bad, I'm not that kind of person, but if I see it happen then I will most certainly enjoy it. Guess that's hate, right?
Quite simply, yes. I haven't even spoken to them for many years but I still feel hate towards them for various reasons.
Brilliant. You start off talking about compassion and end up with "kill people, there's too many of them!" That alone is ridiculous, and your obvious lack of knowledge concerning the death penalty, rape conviction, and false rape statistics makes it even better. Estimates vary between 40% to 80% (depending on the study) of all reported accusations being utterly fabricated - not just unprovable in court, but completely made up. There's a study only counting a false case as one where the victim ends up confessing that it was a lie which had a 41% false accusation rate. As it is there's currently no support whatsoever for those falsely accused of rape, and the accusation alone is enough to completely ruin lives, so sure let's take it one step further and just kill everyone rather than let "the system" deal with things.
I said before I don't hate anyone, and that's true, but I do hate when people state political ideals without knowing what they're on about
Haha, I am well aware of these statistics - there are a large majority of people that will provide false accusations in order to hurt another person personally or professionally - but the idea is still there. I guess I was trying to make two points here: 1 - no matter how you feel about a person/thing there is always some compassion behind your mindset, and 2 - if the punishment for today's crimes were significantly more drastic, there would be far fewer crimes comitted today.
I personally have very little faith in today's legal system - if you are drunk and decide to pee in a bush, you face the same criminal charges and jail time as someone who sexually molests children - Yet those who commit horrifying crimes are charged and put on a 20 year vacation on taxpayer money.
For reference I will go ahead and cite a quote from Danny Robbie Hembree Jr, a man convicted of the rape and murder of three women in South Carolina. When asked about his sentencing, he stated, "Is the public aware that the chances of my lawful murder taking place in the next 20 years if ever are very slim?[...] and that I am a gentleman of leisure, watching color TV in the A.C., reading, taking naps at will, eating three well-balanced meals a day?". He even then went on to taunt the entire legal system by saying, " The state of North Carolina has sentenced me to death, but it's not real [...] You citizens of Gaston Co. should petition the state and force them to carry out my murder sentence"
The other kicker is that at the age of 50, Danny statistically has a better chance of dying from old age than lethal injection - so for killing and raping three women this man gets to spend 20 years enjoying the finer things in life on my dime.
And let's go ahead and do a quick calculation to see about how much money is spent keeping inmates alive every year. As of 2006 the number of inmates in the US alone was nearing 2.5 million, each costing approximately $47,000 USD a year, so we will use these numbers:
2,500,000 x $47,000 = $ 117,500,000,000 per year
So every year in the United States alone, we spend 118 BILLION to ensure a "fair treatment" for our less than desirable population.
Yes, trust the "system" - it's not leading you wrong....
