I haven't reported anyone so far... guess I'm not going to be a Guardian :P
i remember when they had a campaign deterring people from reporting unless it was an emergency, surely this is bad news for moderators? countless reports calling people homophobic for saying gay when someone might actually have a serious problem.
What I've unfortunately discovered is this whole patrol thing is a campaign for users to get trigger happy reporting for any old thing i.e. apparently my name was not suitable despite using it for 8 years.
If it is quantity > quality then it is one of those many things that makes me just go on the client every blue moon.
This whole Guardian project looks like a complete waste of time and not actually solving anything... :P
So basically it's a ranking system anyone can go through AND you're picked purely on being a grass and how many reports you can make in an alloted time? It seems more hassle than it is worth, the moderators who have to deal with the plebs of Habbo society trying to become something they shouldn't be is just a strain on their limited resources.
They would do a better job if they just had old, loyal users who have proven to be useful to the hotel - assuming Habbo can prove their worth seeing as how distant they are from their community. Purely self-inflicted and limited sympathy.
There is quite a difference between wanting to help out and wanting to rank up as high as you possibly can in this flawed system. Being a safe user really has sod all to do with it... I know plenty of people who stay safe and will report rule breakers but what this system has done is encourage you and various other well known 'safe habbos' (the ones with 'Here To Help :-)' etc. in their mottos...) to go absolutely mental reporting people to level up.
It's odd that there was no mention of e-fame until your post. When I said you're doing it for recognition I meant - and I think you know I meant it - from Paul and his Sulake cronies. You're one of many who wants to jump into his back pocket and thinks the only way to do so is to prove your worth by spamming the habbo help tool with (probably pointless) requests.
considering that since 2009 until now the mods have done pretty much nothing about anything. I had no choice but to leave things be. now that they have picked up, The system is working properly again. just because everyone else is reporting like crazy, doesn't essentially mean I'm trying to rank up. ever since the eXpert program came about ive been a safe user. so yes my motto is a safety reference, well done. ive seen worse. Ive seen user made like 2 days ago scouting in rooms telling people off for having their words filtered.
the guardian system is not application based. the MODs choose the guardians. that is why im giving it a go and things are being dealt with for once.
and no, not pointless things. if you walk into a room and see someone called "ilovebondage123" its not pointless. that was an example.
Moderation has been lax for years, you have always had the choice whether or not to 'leave things be', you have just chosen to only do something when you have the opportunity to be recognised for it. If you want to report habbo names then gather a list and send them all in one request.
cba to even reply omg
i had the choice, and i did, but nothing was ever done about any concerns within the past 3 years until now. within the space of the three years i left for a while. im not doing it for recognition, nor am i looking for attention from other users. internet safety is important especially when it comes to children. and a list? if i see a bad username, i click them, and i have the option to report it there and then. i do tickets for rooms, groups and moderation issues. don't reply then kyle, you think Im just looking for a badge which is typical. If infact you are suggesting that i am wanting recognition, i guess you could say im wanted to be recognized as a safety rep which i always have been and will always continue to be. its why i opened my helpdesk in 2006, which was run by the X team, moderators and hobbas.
Don't judge what you don't know, kyle.
That arrogance associated with the old programmes has already started to show its ugly face. Pretty annoying how so many innocent people are getting banned too because everyone has gone report happy to make an impression.
