Info: It stays like this until you turn your inventory off or click the 'pets' tab. However, you can skip step 1 and 2 after your first time unless you reload the client.

Would be good if you could just do it without trading. Maybe they'll add that ability, as I don't see why they'd intend to have it so you must trade first :P.
