A mixture of both, but if I had to pick one, talent.
Hard work! I know talent is always a great thing to have but if you won't work hard you'll never get very far. I regret not revising at all for my GCSE's and then being quite shocked at how intelligence (or talent) simply wasn't enough. I envy some of my friends who really aren't very bright but who worked and worked and worked at GCSE level. They're finding it much easier than me because they learned how to work.
Hardwork - I think most people are capable of most general work if they put their minds to it.
I'm gonna say hardwork.
I dunno, I always find people who are naturally talented at a subject think they can get away with not trying in lessons anymore and usually end up with lower grades compared to those who actually try and want to be good.
I think both are really important.
